Christ is our peace when we believe He has forgiven our sins; when we believe His blood cleanses us and not we ourselves by doing good works, for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified (Romans 3:20). Though Jesus gives us peace it can be taken away if we let it.
One way we loose our peace is by fear. It is a type of negative faith that believes something bad will happen. This not only steals our peace but cripples our faith in God, seeing that we have placed our faith in the enemy’s lies. Another is worry, anxiety, doubt, and anger, all of which weakens our faith in God.
The ways of God are the same peaceful ways until we take heed to a lie which will trouble our hearts. God’s ways aren’t always easy but if your faith is in Him you wont have trouble facing them even if it means to suffer. Resisting Temptations, getting mocked at, or being falsely accused may cause us suffering but afterwards it produces the fruit of Peace and Joy, because we remained faithful to Jesus Christ, walking in the Spirit, and thus we produce the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22).
Sin will further distance you away from God’s peace. Those who have Jesus Christ can get right with God through His blood but those who don’t gradually get worst. You see, sin changes a persons face. Though for a time it may seem that person is having fun in their sin but as times progresses you will notice they have no peace. The wicked are like the waves of the sea (Isaiah 57:20). They’re never still, always trying to find some new way to satisfy their endless lust which will ultimately and sadly lead to hell.
Whether it’s sin, fear, confusion, or doubt that’s holding us back from God’ perfect peace, may we get right with God today, forsaking such thoughts and actions that displease God and rob us of His benefits. God wants us to remain faithful, enduring unto the end the trials of life that we may not just receive His peace here on earth but also an everlasting peace in His Kingdom forever. So let us keep the peace of God by not forsaking His way, for Faithful is He who promised! Amen.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
