Is there any sin that is holding us back?
Take Rest in God for He desires us to rest in Him in all things. This is hard for our flesh to digest since it always wants to be occupied with something to do. Yet when we put down the things we want to do which seem so pleasing and satisfying and come to Jesus, then do we find true joy and peace.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) What our flesh desires is deceitful for it was not what the Lord wanted you to do though at the moment seemed right.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12) The outcome of every carnal desire will never be what you expected. On the contrary, you will experience a lack of peace or joy after or while doing whatever you chose to do while you believed the opposite.
Even ministry and service for God can be done without the Lord when we go and do things our own way, especially when we serve the Lord while in sin (Matthew 7:22)
Don’t get me wrong, when the Lord asks you to do something, at the very moment of the command there won’t be sudden joy or peace; not after the task is finish. The fruit of the Spirit comes after obedience. Also, there will be some kind of opposition when you go and obey the voice of God.
Before starting the new year, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” Hebrews 12:1
